Profile of University of Saint Anthony

University of Saint Anthony (USANT) is a private education institution. Founded in 1947 by Dr. Santiago G. Ortega. USANT is located in Iriga City, Camarines Sur, Philippines.

This university has schools at several levels of education namely elementary school, secondary school (junior and high school) and graduate school.

Academic support system

The effort in maximizing academics at USANT is to facilitate the need to support academics such as laboratories, several technologies such as projectors, LCD, computers to facilitate the learning process and several sports fields to support students in exercising.

Teaching System

At USANT one of them is in junior high school, teaching and learning activities on Mondays to Fridays from 7am to 5pm. Each subject is only 60 minutes. So, every day they study 8 subjects. They have breaks at 9.20-9.40 a.m and lunch at 12.00-13.00 in theafternoon.

Every once a meeting, the teacher explains just one topic because it only has 1 hour. At USANT there are 2 types of classes, namely e-learning classes and regular classes. In e-learning classes, students are required to be more independent, In the e-learning classes, students are required more independent self-study hrough e-book that has been given by the teacher, then the teacher explained a little if the students still do not understand. Meanwhile, in the regular classes, students learn through teacher explanations. The topics given by both types of classes are slightly different and the teaching method is different because in e-learning classes students are better able to find information about the material chapter themselves while ordinary classes do not.

Materials and Other Learning Sources

As explained above, they have 2 types of classes namely e-learning class and ordinary class. In learning classes use e-books, internet, books, and teachers. They also use the Quipper application to make it easier for teachers to give new chapters in the form of e-books, or teachers give assignments to students. In e-learning class, all students are required to bring a laptop and each class is given one printer as their need. Whereas in regular classes, they only use books and explanations from the teacher as their learning resources. In regular classes not all have laptops and cellphones so they tend to use books as a learning resource.

Measurement and Evaluation System

Assessment is carried out from several activities carried out by students, including:

1. Performance of students when they can answer questions or explain in front of the class or active students when learning takes place.

2. Results of the exam

3. Results from assignments or quizzes

Curriculum

Given the K to 12 implementation of the DepEd, SSA opened its Senior High School Program in 2016 offering Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM); Accountancy and Business Management (ABM); Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS); and Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
